Unclaimed Money – A Few Things You Must Know
You might have heard that whoever is looking after your account will only do so for around three years and then the unclaimed money will be handed over to the government. Many people think that it actually happens and this is something true; well, it is a lie since usually those care takers never look for the account holders or claimers that hard so they can ever find them.
If you have some sort of account in any institution or bank and somehow you get unreachable by your bank or you cannot reach your bank; your bank is responsible for looking after all your money for around three years plus with the efforts of finding you as well. Once those three years are gone and you never show up or are located; all that money or property is then given to the government so it can be stored in the unclaimed money department incase you show up later some time.
Also, many people think that not much unclaimed money owed by people exists. Well, the truth is that there are millions of fund lying in the unclaimed money section owed by people. If talk about how much unclaimed money is there then roughly there are billions and billions of dollars around the globe and millions of people who owe it. Now many people make searches in their states to find the money that is owed to them and they are doing it the wrong way. If you will look for your unclaimed money in only the state that you live; you might miss it. Look for it in all the states, their websites, and all other resources there are. Sometimes people have lived somewhere for their entire lives but their insurance company basically belongs to another state; their money is found in their insurance company’s state rather then where they live. This is just something that our system lacks and this is how unclaimed money never is found by many people.
Luckily if you have found your unclaimed money then only filling out some form would not help in getting it back. You will have to provide your complete identification along with filing a few claim forms; the process is not that quick and fast either. There are other things that the institution might ask as prove that the unclaimed money does belong to you in order to avoid frauds.
